Lumia Cyan Update

Microsoft recently began the official rollout of one of the most anticipated update of the year- The Lumia Cyan (or Windows Phone 8.1). The update was much in hype since the rollout of its ‘Preview for Developers’. The update was expected to bring tons of new features to the Lumia devices (at that point of time). Let us find out how Lumia 520 is working after getting the ‘Cyan treatment’.

But before moving to that, let us first see what all is new in this update:

·         New Lock screen: The lock screen got a new design after updating to Lumia Cyan. The digital clock appears to be much bigger than the date and day. This gives the phone a classy look.

Review:
The Lumia Cyan update brought tons of new features on Lumia devices (as expected!). Microsoft knows the value of customers and they are trying to expand their market share. Lumia Cyan took the user experience to a whole new level. Now it is much easy to customise your Windows Phone plus some utility features like notification bar, files, storage sense, etc., makes it more sensible device.

Although, there are still some lags and issues:

·         Battery Drainage: After updating to Lumia Cyan, there are some battery drainage issues with my Lumia 520. My phone’s battery is not performing well after update. (Note: This issue can be device specific)
·         ‘Find my Phone’ crashes: The ‘Find my Phone’ under settings crashes every time.  (Note: This issue can be device specific)
·         Music: There is some issue with the Music app. The app is not very responsive and gives you a lagful experience. (Note: This issue can be device specific)

Verdict:
Only one thing- Well Done Microsoft! Lumia Cyan is a very stable update and gives a better user experience than Windows Phone 8. Windows phone are getting better and better with each update and all credit goes to Microsoft. I will rate it 4.5 out of 5, despite of the issues because I think they can be device specific.
