Samsung Galaxy Grand 2

Samsung is known for their 'Plastic-body' phones and all the phones carry same design and built quality. But now they have started using leather for the back panel of their devices. This gives the phone a premium feel (at least it's better than using plastic). I recently reviewed Samsung Galaxy Grand 2.

Let us have a look at it's tech specs:-

This device is 2G-3G-4G-WiFi ready (I haven't reviewed a 4G model) and also available in Dual-SIM variant. The phone has a 5.25 inches of TFT Capacitive touchscreen which supports 16M colors and has HD resolution. It has 8 GB of internal memory which can be expanded upto 64 GB with the help of microSD card. For connectivity, it has Bluetooth v4.0 (Low Energy) and microUSB v2.0. For photography, the device has a 8MP primary camera which can record videos in full HD and 1.9MP front snapper.
The device has 1.5GB RAM for multi-tasking and 1.2 GHz Quad-core CPU. It runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) and has the power house of 2600 mAh.

Review:-

The phone looks like the other Samsung devices (in terms of design) but has a leather coating over the back panel. The phone looks good on paper and I'm gonna say that it's better than it's predecessor Galaxy Grand and Sony Xperia C. It has a good HD display and a decent primary camera. The phone can handle multi-task at ease but I want to ask a question here that Why 1.5GB RAM?. It should be either 1GB or 2GB, but that's fine. The phone gets over-heated while playing games and browsing internet for longer durations but manage to give a decent battery backup with normal usage.

Verdict:-

It's a decent device with good specification but Google Nexus 4 is available in the market at same price point. The concept of HD screen is old now and that too without IPS display. The phones like Micromax Canvas Turbo and Intex Aqua i7 have much better specification and full HD display. The only reason that I'm going to recommend this phone is better customer service. Keeping in mind today's competition and Samsung brand value I will rate it 3.5 out of 5.
