Lenovo A6000
We all know Lenovo as the leading PC manufacturer.
The company made headlines when they acquired Motorola last year. This shows
that the company is quite serious about the competition and their plan is to
become the leading mobile manufacturer as soon as possible.
Lenovo launched the cheapest 4G LTE enabled phone in
India last year. The phone got great response from the audience. Let’s check
out whether the Lenovo A6000 worth it or not?
Tech
Specs:
The Lenovo A6000 is a Dual SIM device with 2G-3G-4G
LTE connectivity options. The phone has a 5 inch IPS Capacitive touchscreen
which supports 16M colours. The display of comes with an HD resolution with a
good pixel count of 294 ppi. The touchscreen also supports multi-touch.
The phone comes with an 8 MP primary camera and a 2
MP secondary camera. The primary unit comes with the features like auto focus
and LED flash. It also supports video recording at 720p resolution. Though, as
expected the secondary camera is not auto focus enabled. The internal storage capacity
of this smartphone is 8 GB which can be expanded up to 32 GB with the help of
microSD card. Other connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP,
microUSB 2.0 and Wi-Fi.
The device runs on Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) with
Lenovo Vibe UI 2.0 skin on top. It is equipped with a 64-bit Qualcomm MSM8916
Snapdragon 410 Quad-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz with a combination of 1
GB RAM. For handling graphics, it has a dedicated Adreno 306 GPU. For a crisp
audio performance, the A6000 comes with Twin Dolby Speakers. A 2300 mAh Li-ion
battery provides a decent battery life to this product.
Review:
The Lenovo A6000 is a gorgeous looking smartphone. Its
design is awesome and weighs just 128g which makes it quite handy. Though, I
didn’t like its built-quality but that could be ignored keeping in mind the
price of the phone. The display and touchscreen are impressive. The display
delivers crisp colours and the resolution makes it even better. The viewing
angles are also good; all credit goes to the IPS technology.
The device has decent camera units. Both the cameras
perform well during day light conditions. The cameras also have a feature that
whenever you will click a photograph, it automatically enhances it and saves
both the clicks to the gallery (the original and the enhanced). The face
detection is another amazing feature and works well even during low light
conditions. The primary camera can record videos only at 720p resolution but
that is acceptable.
Now coming to its UI and performance, then I must
say that surprisingly the performance is much better than I thought. Though, I
didn’t like the UI much and especially the icons and Music Player. The 64-bit
Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor really impressed me with its speed. It is way
better than the older Snapdragon 400 processor. The RAM is reasonable and seems
enough on paper but the RAM management system needs some improvement. The GPU
is a little better than the ‘traditional’ Adreno 305.
Verdict:
The
Lenovo A6000 impressed me with its performance and design. It’s the cheapest 4G
LTE enabled phone in India but 4G service is still limited in the country. The
phone is not readily available in the country. It is exclusively available on
an e-commerce website and the company offers just few thousand pieces of this
phone every week.
I
will rate it 4.5 out of 5 and hope that Lenovo will improve their supply chain.
