HTC Desire 816G (Octa-core)

HTC introduced the Desire 816 last year. The phone was received well by the critics and audience. Then they came up with a lower Quad-core variant and named it Desire 816G. At the very beginning of this year, the company launched an Octa-core variant of the Desire 816G. Let us check out the performance of Desire 816 (Octa-core).

Tech Specs:
The Desire 816G (Octa-core) is a Dual-SIM smartphone which supports both 2G and 3G networks. It has a 5.5 inch capacitive touchscreen which supports up to 16M colours. It has a decent pixel count of 267 ppi with an HD resolution (720p). The touchscreen of this device supports multi-touch.
For photography, it has a 13 MP primary camera with LED Flash and a 5 MP secondary camera. The primary camera can record Full HD videos at 30fps and HD videos at 60fps. The secondary camera also supports Full HD resolution. Other connectivity options available in this device are Wi-Fi, microUSB 2.0 and Bluetooth 4.0 with apt-X.
The phone runs on Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) with HTC Sense UI 6.0 on top. It is powered by a 1.7 GHz Octa-core (seems like MediaTek) processor which is complimented by 1 GB RAM. The device comes with 8 GB of internal memory which could be expanded up to 32 GB with the help of microSD card. Features like HTC BoomSound and Front-speakers enhance the audio quality. A 2600 mAh Li-Po non-removable battery provides backup to this device.

Review:
The Desire 816G (Octa-core) looks similar to its previous variant. The phone looks elegant with glossy back panel. Its design and built quality are also quite impressive. The display of this device is also good with decent pixel count and HD resolution. Though, its sunlight readability is not really impressive.
I am really impressed with the camera performance of this device. Both the cameras are amazing. The performance of primary camera in day-light as well as low-light condition is spectacular. The LED Flash is quite powerful. The image quality of secondary camera is good too.
The performance of this phone is better than its Quad-core variant. The RAM management system of HTC is brilliant and it handles multi-tasks very well. Though, at some points the performance becomes a little laggy but that’s forgivable. My gaming experience was also above average. The battery life of this device is not as much as its quad-core variant. The reason behind this could be a powerful Octa-core processor.

Verdict:
The upgraded version of Desire 816G is a great deal. The phone is good in terms of looks and design, the cameras are great too and the performance is also decent. The battery life is not really impressive if I compare it with the Quad-core variant. I am not really sure whether it will be upgraded to Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or not.
I will rate it 4 out of 5 and hope that HTC will keep on making such amazing devices and also keeps of upgrading them!
